Remote simultaneous interpreting (RSI) came to us as a surprise with its set of challenges, not least relating to professional ethics.
As it is now becoming more and more obvious that RSI is here to stay, there is a need to consolidate and apply clear regulations and guidelines, given that ethics has always been one of the bedrocks of our profession.
The Africa Training Group, working together with ATPD, is therefore organising this online awareness-raising workshop about AIIC's policies and guidelines in the area. The focus will be on some fundamental rules governing RSI and professional ethics in general.
After a presentation on the AIIC guidelines, representatives from organisations recruiting interpreters will share their experience and give advice which will also come from some senior colleagues. There will also be some time for Q & A and exchanging views.
