The Private Market Sector

AIIC's Private Market Sector (PRIMS) represents freelance interpreters working on the private market, in the public sector or for intergovernmental organisations not covered by the AIIC agreements.

What PRIMS does

PRIMS is led by an elected standing committee of 5 members. Each year, they organise 2 thematic in-person meetings. PRIMS analyses market trends and explores developments in the conference industry. They also work to build bridges between conference interpreters and other major stakeholders in the conference industry.

PRIMS Meetings

The annual PRIMS meetings are open to all AIIC members, pre-candidates and candidates. Members can register for upcoming meetings by logging into their portal.

Resources and Training

PRIMS regularly develops resources and provides training for its members. Recently, this has included training on the new ISO standard on conference interpreting and updated contract templates for freelancers.

Meetings with the MICE industry

Over the past 3 years, PRIMS has been working to build ties with other stakeholders within the event industry. Through presenting AIIC interpreters as partners, not just service providers, PRIMS raises awareness of the vital role interpretation plays in making international meetings more effective and inclusive.
