To help students choose high-quality interpreting courses, AIIC has drafted a list of minimum criteria to look for in a conference interpreting programme.

There are 6 standards that AIIC believes are essential for a good interpreting programme. To be listed in the AIIC Schools Directory, a course must meet all 6 of these criteria:

1.   Extend over at least 1 academic year (full-time)
2.   Result in a master’s level qualification
3.   Include an aptitude test before admission
4.   Have been running for at least 1 academic year
5.   Not benefit financially from assignments worked by students
6.   Train students in both simultaneous and consecutive interpretation
