AIIC UK & Ireland Chinese New Year Party
While lion and dragon dances were taking place at Trafalgar sqaure in London, in a nearby club quietly tucked away, AIIC UK & Ireand celebrated the Chinese New Year in our own way.

The party room was given a thorough makeover with red lanterns, festive tinsel and lucky fish (锦鲤) lights. Guests, when enterting the party, were welcomed with catchy Chinese New Year songs.

The night was kicked off officially with an entertaining and informative presentation from our regional member and AIIC UK&I Webmaster Angie Yin. Angie talked about the 12 Zodiac animals and how the order of these animals are decided (with very interesting comparions between Western dragons and Chinese dragons). She gave details on the traditions at Chinese New Years (i.e. eating, drinking and gifting) and ended her presentation with a couple of New Year messages in Chinese.

The party then went in full swing with wines and canapés served and a selection of Chinese snacks laid out for the adventrous palate. A few new members of AIIC UK&I who were present were given a special welcome and invited for a group photo. It was particularly precious to see several pre-candidates with us. We hope to see many of them at future Regional events.

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy Year of Dragon. 龙年大吉,恭喜发财(May you the best of luck and great prosperity in the Year of Dragon)
