AIIC and ISO Standards
We set high standards for the interpreting profession!
There are a number of standards and specifications that relate to conference interpreting and the interpreting profession at large. AIIC and its members have contributed their knowledge and expertise in developing these ISO Standards.
Several standards have been published thanks to the hard work of the ISO Standards Project. These standards provide rigorous technical specifications for high-quality professional interpreting equipment and services.

Acquiring ISO standards
Once a standard is approved and published, it can be bought from ISO.
AIIC cannot provide anyone with the final text of a standard since ISO owns all standard copyrights.
Should you wish to purchase one of these standards, you should apply to ISO. You can choose to be sent either a hard (paper) copy or a non-printable digital one. Since the document will state clearly that it has been licensed to “so & so”, it may not be lent or forwarded to anyone else.
Furthermore, anyone who owns a copy of a standard may not quote it verbatim and may only paraphrase the original text.
