AIIC PRIMS Meeting in Lyon
25-26 January 2020
The meeting provided a platform for AIIC members, candidates and pre-candidates to learn more about confidentiality, social media and ethics, and discuss their relevance to our profession.
A wide variety of speakers covered the importance of protocol in diplomatic settings, the AIIC Code of Conduct, the psychodynamics of social media, and ethical issues for the events industry. There were also presentations on developments in the AIIC France Region and updates on recent events (in particular PRIMS Montreal), training and CPD.
Takeaways: use of social media continues to be a controversial topic; the importance of secrecy was reiterated, and the notion of ‘common sense’ dismissed as there is no single interpretation of the concept. Quite unsurprisingly, it was impossible to reach definite conclusions regarding the use of social media.
