Outreach: Essex University

22 January 2020

Deborah Muylle visited Essex University in Colchester on 22 January to give a talk about AIIC to the University’s students of interpreting and translation.

Essex University currently has 70 interpreting and translation students, about two thirds of whom are Chinese students training as conference interpreters. There was a good turnout for the optional talk, with 42 students in attendance. The students were keen to find out about AIIC, professional ethics and our experiences as AIIC interpreters, and also asked for suggestions for accessing work experience. AIIC had been invited by Li Li, a Lecturer in Conference Interpreting and an AIIC pre-candidate.
