AIIC Italy

The International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC) in Italy is the Italian branch of the Association internationale des interprètes de conférence (AIIC World), a world-wide association with 3,000 members which has been promoting high standards of professional quality and integrity for sixty years and which is the reference partner of European and International bodies.

AIIC Italy includes professionals active in the private and institutional markets in Italy and abroad and officials working in national and international institutions, such as the Italian Chamber of Deputies, the Italian Senate, FAO, the World Food Programme, the IFAD, the NATO Defence College and the European Union.

AIIC Italy’s Members

AIIC Italy requires a rigorous peer approval procedure for admitting its members (peer review), which is monitored at international level. Interpreters admitted in this way are bound by an ethical code that protects the interests of all parties involved and, in particular, guarantees absolute professional confidentiality.

Professional Development

AIIC Italy attaches great importance to the continuing professional development of its members and promotes several upgrading and educational training initiatives in Italy. For this purpose, it is able to use the international network of AIIC World trainers. Furthermore, it is involved in the sectors of research, as well as university and advanced level training. Many of its members are university lecturers, in permanent or contractual positions.

Initiatives

AIIC Italy also takes part in initiatives for sign language interpreters, for interpreters working in areas of conflict, in the legal field and for young interpreters.

Standards

AIIC Italy and AIIC World  work at the forefront in the definition of standards for the profession.
